Kim Francis is a self-taught sculptor living and working in the Cotswolds.
She first trained as a jeweller in London, her work evolving from body adornment to sculptural forms as she learnt metalwork and modelling skills through working in notable bronze casting foundries both in the UK and the USA.
She has worked as a studio assistant to Damien Hirst, and as an in-house sculptor at the acclaimed foundry Pangolin. Her stone carving skills have developed through frequent trips to Italy. Kim works in ceramic, bronze and stone, and explores possibilities of combining materials in her highly original work.
Statement
I aim to explore viscerally and emotionally, the elegance, beauty and menace of the natural world, as I experience it, using evocative contrasts of material and texture.
