Caro Burberry MRBS grew up surrounded by the fields and woodlands of rural Buckinghamshire, which provided her with a deep and enduring connection to nature.
After a classical training at the Frink School of Figurative Sculpture, she discovered her love for creating sculpture in hot poured metal while working collaboratively with fine art foundries and museums in the UK and USA. Notable commissions in cast iron include 'Worship' for Ironbridge Open Air Museum of Steel Sculpture and 'Indiana Visionary' and ‘Ascension’ for Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum, Indiana, USA. Caro also undertakes private commissions in bronze. She was elected a Member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors in March 2012.
Statement
Through my sculpture I explore and celebrate life. I am inspired by the elegance and power of nature and how people integrate it into their culture. I constantly challenge the materials I use and this often requires me to develop innovative production techniques to achieve my aim. My passion is creating sculpture in hot poured iron. The ritual of the iron pour, the alchemy of transmuting raw, earthly matter into timeless form.
